ūrjā-sajagatā mahāmārgika-abhyāsasya mūlabhūta-pakṣaḥ, jīvana-aneka-kṣetreṣu vistṛtaḥ. vayam iha titlī-mārge amara-ūrjā-karmiṇo bhavituṃ praśikṣāmahe; ataḥ ūrjā-sajagatā pathe mūlādhāram.॥1॥
Energy awareness is a foundational aspect of Wayist practice, extending across every sphere of life. We are here on the Butterfly Path training to become immortal energy workers; therefore energy awareness is the ground of the Path.
mahāmārgiṇo āhāra-vyaktigata-parisara-jana-anya-sthāna-ūrjāṇāṃ guṇaṃ pariśīlayanti.॥2॥
Wayists examine the quality of energy in food, personal space, people, and other environments.
te prakṛtistha-vanaspati-sattva-ūrjāṇāṃ prati saṃvedanaśīlatāṃ vikasayanti.॥3॥
They develop sensitivity to the energies of plants and beings in nature.

sūrya-āvarta-candra-sāmīpya-prabhāvita-dina-ūrjāyāḥ sajagatā saṃvardhyate.॥4॥
Awareness of the energy of the day, shaped by solar cycles and lunar proximity, is cultivated.
mahāmārgiṇo jana-ūrjāṇāṃ anubhava-saṃvādau śikṣante. vayaṃ gaṇa-manaḥ-ūrjāṇāṃ nagara-saṃsthāna-saṃghaṭana-ūrjāṇāṃ ca prati sūkṣmagrāhiṇo bhavāmaḥ.॥5॥
Wayists learn to perceive and engage with the energies of people. We become receptive to group-mind energies and to the energies of towns, institutions, and organisations.
sva-ūrjāṇāṃ prabandhanam pradhāna-abhyāso bhavati. vṛttiḥ — tat-sādhane — asmākaṃ mūla-kauśalam.॥6॥
Managing one’s own energies becomes the primary practice. Attitude — the instrument for this — is our foundational skill.
auṣadha-ūrjāṇi paricīyante avagamyante ca.॥7॥
The energies of medicines are recognised and understood.

rahasya-maya-saṃyoga-kāle sva-tārā-sāmīpyasya tathā ādhyātmika-kṣetra-stara-ūrjāṇāṃ ca sajagatā vikasyate.॥9॥
Awareness of one’s own Tara’s proximity and of the energies across the levels of the spiritual realm deepens during mystical connection.
priyajana-rogibhyaśca cintāṃ sāntvanāṃ svāsthyaṃ premaśca preṣayitum ūrjā upayujyate.॥10॥
Energy is used to convey caring, comfort, healing, and love to dear ones and those who are ill.

mahāmārgiṇo yadocitaṃ tadā sva-vyaktigata-ūrjāṇāṃ parisara-ūrjābhiḥ sāmyaṃ sādhayanti.॥15॥
Wayists harmonise their personal energies with those of their environment when it is the right thing to do.
Grammatical Notes
On training versus arrival — the future orientation:
- भवितुं प्रशिक्षामहे (bhavituṃ praśikṣāmahe) — “we are training to become” — the critical theological precision of verse 1. The English reads “we are here on Butterfly Path learning to become immortal energy workers.” Amara-ūrjā-karmin (immortal energy worker) names the destination, not the present status. The construction bhavituṃ praśikṣāmahe (we are being trained in order to become) holds the future orientation firmly: souls in incarnation are apprentices, not yet graduates. The error this corrects would be to render it as “we are immortal energy workers” — a claim that collapses the soul-school teaching by granting the destination prematurely. The Butterfly Path analogy confirms this: the caterpillar is not yet the butterfly; it is becoming the butterfly through a specific process it cannot skip.
On group-mind — corpus continuity:
- गण-मनः (gaṇa-manaḥ) — “group-mind” — established compound from Chapter 24 (Law of Karma), where it was defined as the collective karmic and attentional field shared by members of a group: family, town, institution, nation. Its reappearance here in the context of energy awareness confirms that the Wayist energy worker learns to read not only individual energies but the gaṇa-manaḥ — the ambient group-field that shapes collective behaviour and spiritual climate. Energy literacy at scale is part of the training.
On the Tara in practice — verse 9:
- स्व-तारा-सामीप्यम् (sva-tārā-sāmīpyam) — “proximity of one’s own Tara” — sva-tārā (one’s own Tara, the graduated spiritual being assigned to accompany each soul) + sāmīpya (nearness, proximity, from samīpa = near). The Tara is not abstractly present; her proximity is felt as an energy state. This verse confirms that energy awareness extends to the non-material domain — specifically to the varying closeness of one’s Tara during mystical practice. Ādhyātmika-kṣetra-stara (levels of the spiritual energy domain) indicates awareness of multiple graduated layers within the spiritual realm — consistent with the cosmological hierarchy established in Chapter 17 (Sukhāvatī) and Chapter 79 (Spiritual Beings). Sukhāvatī is one spirit-heaven among many; its levels carry distinct energy signatures.
On future service — verse 12:
- आकाशगङ्गा-व्यापक-ऊर्जा-सत्त्वानां सहायकत्वेन (ākāśagaṅgā-vyāpaka-ūrjā-sattvānāṃ sahāyakatvena) — “as a helper to energy beings throughout the galaxy” — ākāśagaṅgā (the Milky Way galaxy, established corpus term) + vyāpaka (pervading, extending throughout) + ūrjā-sattva (energy being — beings whose constitution is primarily energetic rather than material, as opposed to incarnate hybrid beings). The Wayist graduating into spirit-life takes up service alongside a vast ecology of energy beings; the training begun in incarnation — energy awareness, energy work, attunement to the Tara — is preparation for that service. This verse anchors the practical skill-list of the chapter in the larger cosmological purpose: Wayism is not a personal wellness programme. The skills exist because there is work to do across the galaxy.
On harmonisation as conditional — verse 15:
- यदोचितं (yadocitaṃ) — “when it is the right thing to do” — the qualification is deliberate. Harmonising one’s energies with the environment is not always right. The Wayist does not dissolve into every ambient field encountered — that would be energy passivity, not energy literacy. Discernment (viveka) governs when harmonisation serves and when it does not. The energy worker learns both how to harmonise and when not to.
Chapter 51 is the first explicitly practical chapter of this unit. Where Chapter 50 gave the lotus as the soul’s posture-in-the-world, Chapter 51 names what that lotus-posture does — it develops perception, attunement, and skill in the medium through which all experience actually occurs: energy. The chapter’s list-form is deliberate: this is a curriculum, not poetry. Each verse describes a skill to be developed, a perception to be cultivated. The closing verse’s conditional (when it is right) is the chapter’s theological signature: energy awareness is not surrender to the environment but informed relationship with it.
Colophon: This translation represents the collaborative restoration work of the Wayist collective Salvar Dàosenglu, based on the ancient mahāmārga teaching tradition, rendered into contemporary English and restored to classical Sanskrit for posterity.
